Thursday 16 June
Yanni and I were asked last night to do another day with Wild Kidz today - I’d like to think it’s because we are so competent, but I suspect it’s because, as everyone who has kids knows, the kids are hard work, and no one else would it. I really enjoyed my morning with 4 small boys who were full of ingenuity and enthusiasm, and my job was basically making sure they didn’t harm themselves or anyone else as they went about completing the tasks. By the end of the course the had learned to:
‘Make water’ by placing a plastic tub in the earth, covering with a plastic sheet and leaving overnight
Make camouflage outfits
Make tracks when out in the woods
Collect appropriate materials to build a shelter
Build a shelter
Collect appropriate materials to build a fire
Build a fire
The kids were exhausted by mid-day, dirty, dishevelled and hungry - if my kids were ever returned after a morning at an activity group this exhausted I was delighted!
Tomorrow we are picked up 7am to drive to Zambia, which will take all day. We are going to South Luanga National Park to safari for 3 days. I will add to the blog tomorrow night if I can.
