Another day off, and a visit to the local craft market.  This is supposed to be relaxing, but for me it’s a nightmare - no one can expect a white British female, never mind a white British female Social Worker, to sneer at a black guy and tell him his carvings aren’t good enough and you’ll only give him one tenth of what he’s asking.  The staff at LWT keep telling me the men are just trying it on, and would laugh at me if I gave them anything like the first price. But damn it, they look so deeply hurt when I do insist I’ll only pay one tenth of what they ask that I haven’t the heart to continue. I just stump up.  My weekly pocket money gone in 5 minutes again - because the stall owners are so effective they can always block your path,  stop you and start showing their things -  I might as well just give them my bank card and let them get on with it.

Still, here is the silver lining - I’ll have a vast number of not very good carving and pretty indifferent hand painted pictures to give out as gifts to all my friends.  So, lots for all my family and friends to look forward to!  Happy days!
